The Buran was the Russians answer to the space shuttle. Urban myth says that they "stole" the plans for the shuttle and it was a direct copy. The Buran made some atmospheric test flights, and one unmanned orbital flight, returning home and landing itself. It came at the time that the Soviet Union was nearing its end in the eighties, and ultimately was abandoned due to a lack of funding. It is perceived by some as having had the potential to be superior to the space shuttle, whilst others dismiss it a pale imitation of a superior American product.

Lunar Module Cigar Band
Acquired from E-bay seller
Collection Number LMCT-039
A cigar band, another item that caught my eye when i saw it on e-bay. The band is embossed, and considering the small size of the piece the image of the LM is superb. There are a few purists out there who might grumble about the extra landing probe on the fwd leg, but the amount of rungs on the ladder is correct!!!!!!!!!!!
Nederlandshe Munt is the Royal Dutch Mint. They have produced a large range of cigar bands that span a large range of topics.
The screen shot below shows the complete Apollo 11 set of bands.
