The V2 rocket and the German scientists who travelled across to the US after the second world war undoubtedly gave the American space program a massive kickstart. The rocket originally designed as a weapon of death, destruction, and terror, was repurposed as a scientific tool.

The rocket was steered by four moveable rudders that were positioned in the rockets exhaust area. The Acrylic contains a piece of one of these rudders which were made from graphite.
