Grumman contracted various model making companies to produce a representation of the Lunar Module. These were gifted to dignitaries and officials, and were also available to the general public to purchase from the Grumman factory shop.

There were a few manufacturers used to produce these models, two of which were Topping Inc, and Precise Models.

Models that were produced post Apollo 11 have the Neil Armstrong “One Step” quote and the landing date and time printed on the base, alongside the NASA & Grumman logos. The models that were produced prior to this only have the two logos on the base.

The models seen for sale vary in price, and the variation is mainly due to two factors. The first being how “white” the model is. The models if left out in natural light yellow quite badly. The second being is how complete the model is, the antenna and thrusters are quite delicate items and are prone to breakage.

This is one of two in the collection and is unusual in that it is still in its original packing. It does not show any signs of being displayed and is as near a pristine white as can be found. The photographs below do not really give it justice. It is also a complete model with all the small items still intact. It was won at auction in the US and has thus survived a transatlantic journey
