Remove before flight tags are positioned on switches, selectors and control devices in the aeronautical and aerospace industries. Sometimes they are to stop a system being inadvertently activated during manufacture and preflight inspections. Sometimes they are there as a prompt that a switch or selector needs to be in a certain position for the take-off or launch. All of the tags were numbered and their positions noted on a checklist.

This particular notice was attached to the panel by a piece of Velcro, and near to this was a small retaining plate that had wires attached to it. Each wire in turn was attached to a cover that was placed over a control. At the appropriate time a screw was removed along with the plate and associated wires and tags. The swuiches thrown, or left in the correct position, and checklist signed off.

Here is a composite of two images. The larger image was taken at "Closeout" of the Lunar module. This was quite close to launch and taken as a record of how the interior was at the very last visit made by the flight technicians. The next eyes to see the inside would have been the Commander and Lunar module pilot when the entered the LM for the first time during the transit to the moon. The smaller picture shows the tag in place prior to the final closeout. The circled area shows the velcro still attached to the panel that was used to fix the tag in place
