Don Willis-Lunar Legacies.
Don had a link with the Space program from the day he was born as his father worked at the Cape in the early sixties building launch complexes. Don completed his education and gained a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and in the mid 80's started to collect Space Memorabilia. This later led to him selling some items, and eventually in the late nineties Lunar Legacies was born. In those days the internet was still in its relative infancy, and it was not the easiest thing to set up a site and get it visible. The business grew and in 2001 Don was able to give up his day job to concentrate solely on Lunar Legacies. It was not until 2009 that the transition from selling items from the site turned into going to a live online auction. The first auction was on March 14th 2009 and was conducted on a site called Proxibid. Don's auctions are now hosted by the online Auction House called Invaluable, and at the time of writing this-June 2021-there have been a total of 35 Auctions from Lunar Legacies.

Don kindly provided the information, and it was only whilst reading it I realised that the very first two pieces of memorabilia I obtained were in fact from that very first online auction in 2009. I remember it well as it was in the days of a super slow and unreliable dial up connection that kept dropping out, not an ideal situation whilst trying to bid in an auction live.

Jon is also the creator and admin of a Facebook group dedicated to the Apollo 11 mission
