The Mariner series of space probes were launched between 1962 to 1973. There were 10 spacecraft Designed & launched by NASA's JPL laboratory. They were sent out to explore the planets of the inner solar system including Mercury, Venus, and Mars. Mariner 2 completed the first successful flyby of Venus in 1962.

The data was transmitted back to earth and was received as a series of code that was printed out on a teletype tape. The artifact here is a piece of the original tape.
